An Owesome Omakase Dinner

*this post is not sponsored

My First Time.

I finally tried a Japanese Omakase for the first time in my 22 years of life. I love everything about it from the friendliness of the chefs and waiters to the food and the experience that came along with it.

The restaurant name is called Kaunta and it is located around the CBD district. Now this isn't just any Omakase the freshness of the sashimi was outstanding and what is more shocking is that all their sashimis served were aged. This means that the chefs fly most of their sashimis and products from Japan. Hokkaido freeze dry them for about 10-30 days before serving it. This is very unusual and out of the ordinary for Japanese omakases.

I will let you know that their prices are expensive as this comes with every omakase meal. Price ranging from $128-$250 for dinner menu itself.

This was the first dish I had the one on the left which was uni and ikura chawanmushi, the way everything just falls into your mouth is to die for. You can really taste the freshness of all the ingredients.

The second dish was a fried shishamo, it came out so delicately that the fish was standing on its own fin. The precision of such pretty placement really adds a little touch to the whole experience. The fish was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside was perfect.

The next few dishes were 7 different kinds of aged raw sashimi on rice. The nest to me was the otoro which is the top right. The way it melts into your tongue is jaw-breaking. Aged fish hits different from regular fresh fish as the texture is different the taste is slightly different. I am honestly not a fan of sashimi in the first place however when i tried this different 7 kinds, I was left on cloud nine wanting to come back for more.

The next was this handroll which was slathered on with uni and a fresh piece of chutoro. I usually do not really go for uni or known as sea urchin as I think is a very acquired taste. But the way this combination worked was so well I totally forget that the sea urchin was there, I loved every bit of it. However I would say that sea urchin is really not for everyone and it can be a bit "jalat" after awhile.

The great thing about such fine dining experience is they are very accommodating to one's need, and since everything is prepared fresh on the spot in front of you, one can request and tell such chefs what they prefer and what they are unable to eat.

Everything ended off with a bowl of clams miso soup, even the clams were so fresh and had no sandy texture. They even serve dessert which was homemade green tea ice cream.

My dining experience with Kaunta was nothing but splendid. I would always come back hungry for more. Their dishes do change from time to time depending on what fishes they are able to bring it. I really recommend everyone should at least try such an exquisite experience at least once.
